Training Structure | 2024 in Canada

Our 200-hr YTT in Canada is offered in collaboration with our partner studio, the Yoga Barn. The training is offered in two modules, each containing eight days of immersion-style study.

The first Summer module focuses on foundational postures, yoga's historical and philosophical origins, introductory anatomical principles, and classical Haṭha sequencing. Students will teach their first practice class with a partner and complete our first written exam. This module contains eight consecutive days of training / 80 hours of in-studio education.

In the space in between, you'll be supported by resources, workbooks, a curated online library of practices, and continuing calls featuring expert guest lecturers. This section constitutes 40 hours of YTT study.

Returning to our Autumn module, we will revisit and refine past content and build upon these foundations, layering in modern yoga history, injury prevention and adaptations, teaching methodology, yoga business and ethics, language and theming frameworks, Vinyāsa-style sequencing strategies, and integration of course concepts. We will focus on application, such as teaching special populations, as well as the subtle skills of teaching yoga including space holding, boundaries, communication and co-regulation.  Students will complete this process by writing our final exam and teaching a focused practicum (a full-length practice or mini-workshop). These eight consecutive training days contain 80-hours of study, completing our 200-hour essential training.

Following our in-person work, the final phase of our process is a 10-hour mentorship, including resources to support you as you begin to share your teaching in your community and set the foundation stones of your yoga business. We will have opportunities to reconnect and integrate as a group, as well as a one-on-one call with a training leader to support the next steps of your journey.
